Organ Size: The Role of Mobile Signals

چکیده

Growth regulator X1 promotes growth, is produced locally (purple area) and has limited mobility. This causes a spatial growth gradient (faster growth in darker green). Growth will arrest in a wave from right to left as X1 levels decrease. Growth regulator X2 promotes growth, is produced locally (orange area) and is sufficiently mobile to affect growth in the same way across the tissue. If only X2 affects growth, there is no spatial growth gradient. As X2 levels decrease, growth will arrest everywhere at the same time across the tissue. If X1 and X2 are produced in the tissue, growth will proceed for longer than with X1 alone; therefore, the tissue may grow to a larger size. Anne-Gaëlle Rolland-Lagan

An Enhanced MSS-based checkpointing Scheme for Mobile Computing Environment

Mobile computing systems are made up of different components among which Mobile Support Stations (MSSs) play a key role. This paper proposes an efficient MSS-based non-blocking coordinated checkpointing scheme for mobile computing environment. In the scheme suggested nearly all aspects of checkpointing and their related overheads are forwarded to the MSSs and as a result the workload of Mobile ...

KLUH/CYP78A5-Dependent Growth Signaling Coordinates Floral Organ Growth in Arabidopsis

Growth control in animals and plants involves mobile signals. Depending on their range of action, these signals coordinate the growth of cells within an organ or the growth of different organs in a larger, functionally integrated structure. In plants, flowers are such integrated structures, yet it remains poorly understood how growth of the constituent organs is coordinated to ensure their corr...

Regulation of organ size: insights from the Drosophila Hippo signaling pathway.

Organ size control is a fundamental and core process of development of all multicellular organisms. One important facet of organ size control is the regulation of cell proliferation and cell death. Here we address the question, What are the developmental mechanisms that control intrinsic organ size? In several multicellular animals including humans and flies, organs develop according to an inst...

اثرات امواج الکترومغناطیس موبایل بر تغییرات هیستومورفولوژیک و مورفومتریک اندام‌های لنفوئیدی در مدل موش سوری

Background & Aims : Electromagnetic waves, such as mobile wave and microwave radiation have been used in the contemporary world for many years. Considerably, the rapidly increasing use of mobile phones has led to pay more attention to the possible effects of being exposed to mobile phone radiation on lymphatic organs . This study was conducted to investigate the mentioned effects on mice.  ...

Analysis of Changes on Mean Particle Size in a Fluidized Bed using Vibration Signature

Vibration signals were measured in a lab-scale fluidized bed to investigate the changes in particle sizes. Experiments were carried out in the bed with a different mass fraction of coarser particles at different superficial gas velocities, and probe heights. The S-statistic test evaluates the dimensionless squared distance between two attractors reconstructed from time series of vibration signa...
